As we approach into the winter season, more and more visitors will be visiting our little resort town to enjoy the outdoor activities. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is a top ten family ski resort in the United States and has become a beacon for tourist attractions since the 1960’s. With 1,167 skiable acres, 121 trails, 16 lifts, a terrain park, a superpipe, and over 300 inches of average snowfall, it is impossible to find nothing to do, and there will always be fun activities that will fit every persons fancy.
Skiing and snowboarding and a whole slew of holiday events will fill your vacation itinerary. Let me share with you one event the valley offers in terms of recreation and fun.
The “Rock on Ice”, an ice carving festival in celebration of the holiday season, is set to be a 4-day free event,  December 17th through December 20th from 9 am to 4 pm, daily. Crested Butte and the surrounding towns have always been an advocate in preserving the culture and history of the community, thus they fully support all forms of art, including visual arts.
What’s cooler than ice sculptures? The “Rock on Ice” event is an artistic approach on winter events, for those who would like to appreciate intricate ice sculptures. Watching master carvers and artists carve blocks of ice into temporary master pieces is a rare spectacle of an event. Be dazzled as we invite the world’s most renowned carvers create larger than life sized sculptures of animals, holiday characters, and other iconic figures out of blocks of ice.
The event is said to feature ice carving installations, interactive sculptures, and pictorials around the Courtyard at Mountaineer Square. If you are one who appreciates wonderful 3D art, then by all means, please stop by the Lodge at Mountaineer Square for the carving demonstrations and check out the sculpture garden grow. This is one great event you and your family won’t want to miss.
If you are thinking about making a real estate purchase, or if you are ready to sell, let me buy you a cup of coffee and let’s discuss Crested Butte’s potential.
