Thanksgiving In Crested Butte 2019

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! In our home, we prepare blanched peanuts, a recipe that has been handed down from our family. Now these aren’t just any ordinary peanuts. We start with raw peanuts, preferably from Virginia, which have the red skins removed. They are fried on low electric skillet for a couple of hours, and the end result turns out to be the most crispy, scrumptious peanuts you have ever tasted. They have a nice brown, almost charred, appearance and are even taste better when they are a little underdone. Once out out the skillet, they are salted and set out for family to enjoy before Thanksgiving meal.
Family recipes like this are a great dish to serve and talk about during Thanksgiving. Trade secrets among family members and great food to share is really meaningful during this festive day.

If you decide you’d like to skip cooking all the fixings at home, there are many great places to eat. Restaurants around town provide special dishes at a fraction of the price during special times of the day. These include 9380 Prime at the Elevation Hotel, Woodstone Grille at the Grand Lodge Hotel, Coal Creek Grill at 129 Elk Ave and Elk Avenue Prime at 226 Elk Avenue to name a few. Check out our previous article on Thanksgiving in Crested Butte to learn about great deals during this holiday.
With all these great things happening in our town, I urge you to come to Crested Butte and celebrate Thanksgiving’s amazing events with the community. The resort opens the Wednesday before the holiday. There will lots of fun events happening all around town and at the resort.
