Spring Break Events In Crested Butte

Warm weather, spring like skiing conditions, the birds singing away in the trees and lots of activities going on in town. It must be spring break in Crested Butte! Whether you are here to ski or relax, there is plenty to do.

Cosmic Ski Mountaineering

Cosmic Series, which, from the words themselves, are a series of competitive ski mountaineering races in the Rocky Mountains and beyond.

Some of the events are:

The day two Griggs Orthopedics Ski Mountaineering Race. One will be on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 4:30 pm and the other will be on April 1, 2018 at 9:30 am. The races are specifically designed for racers who want to challenge themselves to a vertical race and individual race. Like all races, there will be specific guidelines and rules for everyone to follow so that everyone participating will be prepared and safe.

Historic Walking Tour

Do you want to learn the history of our wonderful Town and Valley? Join the Historic Walk tour.

When: March 10, 2018  at 2:00 pm and on March 17, 2018  at 2:00 pm (Saturday events)
Where: 4th and Elk Avenue

Tickets: $10 a person and support the Museum's general operating fund.

Ten Peaks Sunset Soirees

The Ten Peaks Sunset Soirees is a chance to dine and relax while watching the long sunset from a distance.

When: March 13, 2018 at 5:00 pm through 8:00 pm

Where: Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks

Things to remember:

  • Food is available from 5- 7 pm.

  • The tickets will be on sale in advance for purchase either online or via the Adventure Trail for $60 per person.

  • Brining your ID to prove that you are 21 and above is a must.

  • Additional beverages will be available for purchase.

  • Snowshoes and AT gear are available for rent for an additional price at the Crested Butte Rental and Demo Center.

  • The assembly will be at 5:15 pm where a tracker will meet you at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square.

44th Annual Al Johnson Uphill - Downhill Telemark Ski Race

The “AJ” is quintessential Crested Butte: costumes, telemark skiing, extreme terrain, and lots of fun! Proceeds benefit the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.

When: March 18, 2018 *Pre-register by March 16th at the Alpineer or click here to register online to be part of the race.  *** Do note, however, that downloading the form from the site does not mean that you are pre-registered. You still need to get the forms to the Alpineer by 6:00 pm on March 16th. After this date, you may register at the Brick Oven on the day of the race between 8:00 am through 9:30 am. ***

What to Expect: 

  • The first event will be the tag team race which will start at noon amounting to $40 per team who registered early and $50 to the teams that registered on the day of the race.

  • The second event will be the men's & women's Individual Uphill/Downhill Race which will starts at 1:00 pm amounting to $20 per individuals whom have registered early and $30 per individuals whom have registered on the day of the race.

 The Elk Mountains Grand Traverse

Launched by backcountry skiing enthusiasts in the late 1990s, the Elk Mountains Grand Traverse is the epitome of competitive skiing in Colorado. Attracting hundreds of athletes each year, the race gives back to the local community by donating proceeds to nonprofit organizations

When: March 23rd to the 24th.

Get The Girls Out Event

SheJumps (Rockies) is a national campaign to unite women as they support, challenge, mentor and inspire each other in the outdoor sports world. They have continued to create many events to cultivate communities for women to have fun and bond with other women whom may be friends, family members and strangers alike.

When: April 1, 2018

What to Expect.
This exclusive, only women’s group, will meet at 10:00 am at Coal Breaker Coffee to prepare, booted up and divided into several groups depending on your ability and the terrain you wish to ski that day.

The groups will then merge and meet back at Butte 66 at 1:00 pm, where each participant will be eligible to get free giveaway with awesome prizes thanks to a few sponsors.

Things to Take Note:

  • This is an event open to all levels, all ages and exclusively for women only.

  • You may avail a season’s pass to get discounted lift tickets amounting to $45 at the Rental Shop.

  • Pre-registered is required in order to obtain a discount.

  • Registration is free however space is limited. So booking in advance is an advantage.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter egg hunt is always a fun game for childern in Crested Butte.
