Film Festivals are so fun and inspiring to me. Designed by film makers to create an atmosphere of inspiration and awareness through thought out screenings, high-quality programming, invigorating panel discussions, and authentic engagements. Series of films are played out in one or various venues, usually in a single city or region, that can have one or several focus topics and genres, and can be released either domestically or internationally. Film festivals are typically annual events that can last through several days or even weeks. A great thing about film festivals is that it is a filmmakers playground, that allows them to pour their passion on moving visual arts.
Here in Crested Butte, we have the Crested Butte Film Festival, which is a four day event, aimed to provide quality, powerful and moving stories, while fostering incredible connections in a magical mountain scenery. What better way to watch a film than to watch it in a place situated among towering mountains and golden aspen trees. Founded in 2010 by two amazing filmmakers and film-lovers, the organization is on a mission to “move people to move the world”.
This year, the event will be on September 26th through 29th and will contain a powerful lineup of diverse and heart warming, inspirational films. The venues will be within walking distance around town, and will showcase about 100 or more films spanning the genres of narrative, documentary, outdoor adventure, children’s, and short films, across multiple venues. Click venues to learn where these events will be located.
Tickets will be available at at the door of the venue immediately before each film showing, but you can also purchase a ticket or event passes online. Click on tickets to secure a spot for a film. Take note that it costs $15 per film.
