We often think of February as the month of love. I agree whole hardheartedly. Yesterday was Valentines Day. It was a perfect bluebird sky day. The day just beckoned you to come outside and
It is the season of hearts, as Valentines is fast approaching. What better way to spend a cold winters day than in the warm embrace of your significant other. Ideally, a perfect romantic getaway is a long walk on the beach with your partner, but you will be surprised that there are different places to book a flight to that don’t involve a beach, perhaps, even a place that is colder.
Here in Crested Butte, there isn’t a big festival to celebrate this special day, however, Crested Butte is a town, that is surprisingly, filled with romantic attractions. Since it is still winter, you can try the various chairlifts to cuddle around with your loved one. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the extremely breathtaking views of the mountains. There are also a few scenic views that you can visit via car. An example is the Blue Mesa. It’s a long windy road that takes you towards Montrose, but you travel around the Mesa Reservoir which is beautiful. Another idea is to go Nordic Skiing on one of the trails in Crested Butte. Many times, there are not a lot of people on the trails, and it is very romantic, taking in the beautiful views, especially on a bluebird day. A great itinerary to try out is the Spa day at Purple Mountain B&B, which is a wonderful relaxing treat for any couple to experience.
For dinner, maybe consider going to the Magic Meadows Yurt. It is a awesome magical experience of fine dining, gourmet dishes intricately prepared by private chef, Tim Egelhoff. The atmosphere is warm and relaxing, and the staff are very welcoming. As you end the evening, and head back to your homes, enjoy the trail back with a spectacular view sky of the stars, and maybe even a full moon. This is truly an evening with your partner that you both will never forget.
Since we are on the subject of Valentines, I have recently read the book, The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman, originally published in 1992, that outlines ways to express and experience love between romantic partners. Feel free to listen to its audiobook on YouTube, and take the 5 love languages test that is available online. Please feel free to let us know about your test result on our Facebook page. We would love to know more about you, as the test doesn’t only relate love, per se, but also what you value most.
Valentines day, may be just one day of the year on February 14, but in Crested Butte and the surrounding communities, you can really feel the love everywhere, and the town folks in this community are really warm and friendly. Give it some time, with kind neighbors, a safe neighborhood, fantastic schools, great scenic views, and many recreational activities to do all year round. There is always something to fall in love with in this enchanting town.
