We often think of February as the month of love. I agree whole hardheartedly. Yesterday was Valentines Day. It was a perfect bluebird sky day. The day just beckoned you to come outside and
Are you contemplating on a cold winter trip? What better way to spend the first part of the year than in Crested Butte, a town known for its jaw-dropping mountainous views, majestic ski paths, and its spectacular winter activities. This year, the town already has a wide array of events to fill everyone’s winter itinerary. One such event will be The Magic Meadows 7, which is going on its 8th year.
The Magic Meadows 7 has something to offer for those who appreciate the snow. This 7 Hour – Criterium Style Nordic Ski Race is the main attraction, but also provides “playgrounds” and a shorter 1k loop for the whole family to enjoy. The event is designed to be either challenging or like a leisurely “stroll” with friends and family. For those who desire a healthy competition, one can push themselves to tally as many laps as possible for the full 7 hour duration; or one can just come out and spin a few loops, enjoying the festive atmosphere all in support of our junior Nordic racers!
Feel free to participate in this event for a cause, which will be held at the Magic Meadows Yurt and will help get funds to support the Crested Butte Nordic Junior Team, and Gunnison Nordic Teams. The event will be held on Sunday, January 12, at 9 am through 4 pm. Registration will be $25 per person, for early online registration, and $30 at the Yurt on the day of the event, both of which are non-refundable. Like last year, we can expect that the fee includes trail passes, food & drink and one ticket into raffle, though there is no mention of any as of now.
Participants of the race are eligible to earn weighted top finisher points in the Alley Loop Race Series. Points will be awarded across all five races, with the top 3 – Master & Youth / Male & Female cumulative point winners receiving series champion prizes for their outstanding commitment to Nordic racing in Crested Butte. So if this event seems appealing to you, by all means, feel free to register on their official website.
